Internships @ Digital Sisters
We have worked with several interns over the years. Several interns
have worked to get credit as a practicum for school or just took
the opportunity to build experience in their fields.
We have several Internship options. Each intern works on a specific
program activities.
All of our interns need skills in technology and communication
experience.
Some Examples: email, word processing, fax, telephone and internet
skills.
Basic computer literacy skills required.
Additional intermediate technology skills preferred.
The Techno Activism Project is a partnership between Digital
Sisters and SALSA. The program mission is to supplement the existing
work and advocacy needs that individuals, residents, activists,
advocates and nonprofits have by using technology for social change.
Tasks:
- Calendar schedules keeping in contacts
- Searching for funding sources
- Finding site locations particularly back up sites
- Contacting sites, visiting sites prior to classes
- Confirmations: Getting the names of those that signed up, contacting
them about the upcoming class.
- End of term report: how much money, how many people attended
and the costs per person, to tallying out each class and expenses.
- Using the evaluation forms to generate new ideas to enhance
current classes or services.
- Calling to follow up on the evaluations for people that did
not complete them.
- Fax blast and list serves.
- Flyer dissemination.
- Fax the evaluation forms to SALSA
Benefits of the TAP internship:
- Includes all classes of SALSA and TAP for the duration of the
internship worth up to $1500
- Recommendation for experience at hands on project management
experience upon completion of internship
- Exposure to diverse networks of people in activism and contacts
of professional career networks.
- Non profit fundraising experience.
The Adult Life Long Learning Iniative is a program with a mission
to provide adult basic education with certification in areas of
Sales and Service, Customer Service, and Office Manager and in
the future Help Desk.
